Gates of Hell
Listed here are more offenses that evoked the death penalty. All of these were common in the nations during the days of Moses. God needed to set apart his people, to reveal himself to the nations. Today he reveals Himself through the church. We have no power or right to put these people to death today, but certainly we can use church discipline to keep them out of the fold, and parental rights to keep them out our homes.
Sorcerer: Witches, warlocks, palm readers, fortune tellers, etc... Many of these today are probably fake, but those with real power or influence have pacts with Satan and demons. They are the enemies of God. Let's not get carried away like the Salem Witch trials, but there is a very real and dangerous facination today with the occult. We need to protect our church and children from such wicked influences.
Bestiality: What used to be considered taboo, is now commonly the punch line of jokes. It is just another stop on the way down to the depths of depravity by those who have rejected truth and continue to drink from the well that only intensifies the thirst. We must keep them from the innocent.
Sacrifice to God only: There are many false religions today, which are gaining a foothold in America including Masonry, Christian Science, Mormons, Jehovah Witness, and humanism (New Age). Many popular celebrities, politicians, and businessman belong to these. In the end they all have one thing in common, they glorify man over God. Jude warns us to keep false teachers at bay.
God says, "I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it" This implies we need to be on the offense. For too long we've been on the defense. Huddled in our castles thinking we are safe. But the enemy is among us. It's time to take action and rid ourselves of these blemishes.
