God REALLY Hates Idol Worship

I am discovering more and more just how much God hates when we love something more than we love Him. These people were His chosen people that He freed from slavery in Egypt and now they want to go back and burn incense to other gods.

I have also been seeing that God wants to give us another chance to do whats right. In this case, God sends a message through Jeremiah that if they stayed in their homeland then God would bless them and enlarge their number. Did they listen? No.

How many times do we ignore Gods command? How many idols do we have in our own homes....television, computer, pda, game system, fiction books, radio, magazines, gossip, food, car....etc.

Anything that you put before God IS an idol. The more time you spend with things or people while leaving God on the back burner, I believe, means you have made that an idol.

God says in Exodus 20:5, that He is a "jealous God". So, if you know this about Him then why continue to watch tv first thing in the morning before saying a word of prayer? Why continue to sit on the couch gossiping and not have opened your bible? God curses those who don't make Him their God...especially after He has given warning.

So, don't be like these people and disobey Gods command. He longs for a deeper relationship with you but it can't happen while you have something else in front of you.

Just think, God sent His ONE & ONLY Son to die for us....don't you know that He would do MUCH more if we make Him First in our lives?
