Throughout Exodus, Numbers and Deuteronomy we see how God was preparing Joshua for this job - to take the lead of Israel. He spent time with Moses inside the tent of meeting. He went up on the mountain with Moses to meet with the Lord. He led the Israelites in military victory. With Moses dead, Joshua was God's man for the job.
