A good husband is supposed to lead his family in God's truth and love. It's quite possible that his Achan's family here didn't even know about the theft and this is how they found out!
I'm so glad we don't stone people and their families today, but I can't help thinking that something breaks when secret sin is allowed to grow, and it's not only the one who has the sin that will suffer under it's curse.
