This really shows that Paul had an amazing devotion to the message of the Gospel. He says in these verses that he tries to find common ground with everyone so he can see more people saved. He went above and beyond, denying himself when appropriate, living in Christ's freedom when appropriate, just for the sake of seeing different groups of people saved. He literally laid down his life for the Gospel. This truly was not a man living for himself. Perhaps this is what it means when Jesus told us to take up our cross and follow Him.
