Authority
Daniel's decision started in his mind and even then he sought permission from the commander because he respected the authority.
Even though he was in a foreign country, he respected the authority. Later on we read that God had given Nebuchadnezzar all those kingdoms. It's a reminder to us that there are many forms of God given authority in the world we are to respect because God himself is a God of authority.
