See that crook guy

A beautiful verse “Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?” (MSG)
To think of the ideals we have at the outset of our journey and the “circuitous route through the wilderness” God actually takes us so begs this question.
I imagine people thought Hezekiah needed to be a strong, decisive, out-there, highly visible leader and there he was sick, stuck in bed, face to the wall in grief, work cut off in its infancy and God says ‘See that crook guy you thought wasn’t saviour material - he’s going to be the core of your deliverance.’
I guess we look at our own private pain and say how can God make something out of this when I feel short-changed, unacknowledged, undervalued in what I can offer in life and love and yet God works with this “scrubby plant in a parched field” experience v2 (MSG) and casts saving masterpieces from it. That’s Messiah’s way.
