The risks you take reflect the object of your hope.
You must "lose your life to save it."
There is no safe Christian life.
Living a Life of R.I.S.K.:
1. Right view (of God)
2. Identity (settled)
3. Sacrificial (mentality)
4. Kingdom (advance)
1. Right view of God.
Little God, little risks. Big God, big risks. Your life is limited by your view of God and your purpose.
True freedom is living for an audience of one. We risk more for God when we have a right view of God.
2. Identity Settled.
Whatever wins your identity will ultimately win your energy and your expression. Your identity is a man of God.
FLEE the love of the world, self pleasure, and wealth (Rom 8:6).
PURSUE righteousness, faith, love, gentleness,... (1Tim 6:10-11).
Fight the good fight of faith.
Are you fighting against sin?
Are you fighting against selfishness?
Are you fighting against those things that take you from God? (or surrendering)
Are you fighting for your wife?
Your children?
Your friends?
Your neighbor?
You can't call Jesus, Lord, and not do what he says (Luke 6:46).
3. Sacrificial Mentality.
There is no growth without risk.
You must lose to gain.
That loss creates pain, but God brings purpose to pain (Rom 5:3-5).
You are never more like Christ than when you're risking your comfort for Christ.
If you don't feel close to Jesus, ask yourself what you're risking for him.
Ask yourself what does God find important? Give yourself to that.
4. Kingdom Advance.
Forceful men take hold of God's kingdom (Matt 11:12).
The kingdom advances first within you.
God's Spirit takes out the old you, to reconstruct the new you (Rom 12:2).
The kingdom then advances through you.
"Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
How do you know if you're in the Kingdom? Are your attitudes changing? Are your actions changing?
What are you risking?
