Leave It All On The Field

I love this story...and the implication of this story concerning ministry. Yes I realize that it's about financial giving...but it is so much more than that. The widow had very little...almost nothing...but she gave all that she had. The wealthy...while doing their part...still had more to give...and didn't.

Back when I played football my coach used to say before a game, "Men...leave it all on the field tonight!" What that meant was to give it 100%...don't hold anything back...use up every bit of energy, play, talent, strength and ability before the game ends. Basically...come off the field barely able to walk...leave nothing left...leave it all on the field.

The widow left it all on the field. As a pastor...each time I preach I should leave it all in the pulpit. As a follower of Christ each day I should finish with nothing left to give to the Kingdom of God...I should leave it all on the field for Him. At night rest...in the morning spiritually prepare...through out the day...use it all up in the good fight. Leave it all on the field.
