Chosen with Purpose
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. (John 15:16 NASB)
When we observe the architectural marvels in the world such as the Empire State Building in New York, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France or even our homes in which we reside – it all started from a blueprint. A blueprint is a design or pattern for which something is to be manifested or realized. The blueprint existed before the final product. In other words a blueprint is proof that the final product was not an accident or happenstance but intentional because, it was clearly thought out before the product was built.
This imagery is understood when Jesus says to his disciples, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and ordained you…” The word “chose” means, “from the beginning and to layout” – a blueprint. When God chose you for service in his kingdom this was from the beginning. This means his choosing had nothing to do with your failures or successes – you haven’t created them yet. Man chooses you based on what you do, God chose you based on who you are – His beloved child. Once the blueprint was laid out, His choosing you, He then ordained (or appointed) you - He manifested the final product for all to see.
God not only chose you, but He gave you purpose – that you may bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain. The fruit is to share the Gospel and the plan of salvation for all mankind. And this fruit that you share will always remain. This means with all of your faults and shortcomings, God still chose you and trusted you enough to represent Him! God sees the value in you when no one else does! What better approval and validity is there to have than from God Himself?
Take this time to live out your purpose knowing that God had a plan for your life all along. And even though people may have you counted you out, God never gave up on you. He chose you from the beginning.
