Abraham- all odds against you
All odds were against Abraham..first God tells him to leave everything he's ever known to go into a land which he still doesnt even know yet. (Note, land was very important back then, people were identified by where they came from. It was not customary to move from your land and where your fathers and family always lived. Plus, Abraham was not very young either. So this was a great sacrifice for him to leave it all behind. Just imagine that God tells you, leave it all! Pack up & leave your land)
Then, he gives the option to Lot to choose and Lot chooses the best land and he gets stuck with the dry empty one. it seemed like God couldnt possibly do anything with him there, until He tells him to "look up" (he must've been looking down in disappointment, defeat) because He would use THIS land! God uses what u LEAST expect to bless you! Even when it appears like all odds are against your favor, even in a dry, empty land of cactus, God will bless you when you obey His voice!
