The Christ went up to the mountain and called those whom he wanted; called to be disciples. - imagine what that meant
"In the 21st century church, we are far better at believing than we are at behaving"
There is no real action or conviction thay comes along with belief in the truth in the knowledge of God.
Theres a whole lot more than belief, a whole lot more than massive buildings and sanctuaries, a whole lot more than entertaining the congregation to do with behaving for Christ in the Right Church; but these are what makes the 21st century church (we have missed the mark).
Being a Christian IS being a disciple
A disciple not only LEARNS what the master teaches, but they apply it to their lives.
4 Things:
Position - to hear His call from the mountain top. The first time you heard the gospel it was not by chance but by design; you must be in position. It is at that moment that you have the choice to accept His design for discipleship, or to reject it. They have not hardened their heart or closed their ears but they are there and ready.
Personal - It was designed and He called THEM because He wanted them. It was a personal and transformational relationship. They were never the same after they first met, heard the call, and came to Him. They had the opportunity to KNOW Him like we do not. We know what the records say, THEY knew Him.
Preach - to be a herald, to proclaim; we often misunderstand and misuse this word. Its not only how Pastors convey messages on Sunday mornings from the pulpit, that is but one form. The most prevalent form of Preaching ought to be the lifestyle that conveys the message. The actions we commit ought to convey the message; acting on what we've committed to. The last form of preaching is words, because these only are empowered when there ia proof in how we life and what we do. "Let us not spend so much time in showing what we stand AGAINST instead of what we stand FOR; we are wasting time."
Power - He gave them the authority to drive out demons. "I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed in power" -The Book of Luke A disciple ought to have POWER and if you do not, then you ought to check what exactly is missing that is keeping you from your discipleship, lest you find yourself neglecting what was designed for you and without any time to correct it.
REMEMBER that He called those He wanted. Remember also, that they CAME to Him. Will there be something that people can see in and about us that's different?
