Betrayal

2 Samuel 2 and 3/John 13

In these passages we see how men who were very close to their kings could loose sight of themselves and betray. Joab betrayed his king and Judas betrayed his God. It is easy to dismiss these actions, but what will it take for us to betray what is the supposed to be the most important thing, our God. Judas is synonymous with betrayer, but he was also one of JEsus disciples. He received the same teaching, same time, saw the same miracles and yet allowed his desires for other things take control and open teh door to the enemy. In the presence of God he was possessed by the devil! Joab was a general in the kings army and a trusted person to king David, yet his desires for revenge stopped king David from becoming king for some time. We all have to understand that the title Christian doesn't mean anything if we are failing to die to ourselves. Paul said he died daily and now I am beginning to understand why. We have to die daily because that is the path to remaining faithful Today is the day to overcome and for me, that means overcoming the desires which are separating me from the Lord.
