Lot's wife
NO TURNING BACK:
It says that Lot lingered. How many times have we lingered on the things of God and have put them aside when we know what we have to do?
the beautiful thing is that God gave Lot and his family specific intructions on how to escape but Lot wanted the easier route, a shortcut and asked to stay in a nearby city instead. God doesn't always give us the easiest route, rather the route that He knows is BEST for us. The problem was that God's initial plan was best, the nearby city made it easier for them to look back because it was closer to Sodom & Gomarrah and Lot's wife looked back.
So many times God takes us out of the land of sin, an addiction and he tells us to flee as far as possible because that land is full of sin & we will be destroyed if we stay there. But we leave that land behind but we still wanna peak at it, we think it's not "TECHNICALLY" the sin. But God says flee!
for ex: God has set you free from lust. Why would you watch music videos with girls half naked? or listen to music that has sexual messages?
Or pornography, why be by yourself in your room with your laptop?
If you know God set you free from cursing, why surround yourself with people who curse? (to evangelize, yes but not your close friends)
or you know you used to talk bad about people, why stay with people who do that?
It was the land furthest away from Sodom and Gomorrah that was best. so that they wouldnt even be tempted to peek!
no looking back was a command from the Lord and she was not obedient. perhaps she doubted what God was gonna do, maybe she feared and wanted to return to her old place..she was turned into a pillar of salt
