true repentance
Many people seems that they've repented. However, some people doesn't even learn a thing from their mistakes. True repentance is to turn from our sinful ways. Adonijah's heart was still holding resentment and wanted sth more from the kingdom. He was testing king Solomon and in his heart he doesn't accept him as his king. Solomon had the wisdom from God, seeing the true desire behind Adonijah's wish. He showed mercy once because he didn't find wrong at that moment.God knows persons heart.
There are many fake believers who keep on testing LORD'S grace. For those they will not inherit His kingdom but shall be put to death.
I find atleast 3 wrong in this verse.
1st- as you know, - what batsheba knew was her son Solomon was inheriting the kingdom.
2nd - kingdom was rightfully mine - he never learned a lesson from his wrong act. He was still right in his own eyes. Maturity doesn't depend from age. God entrusts his belonging to His faithful stewards.
3rd - all Israel wanted me to be the next king - Really? it was his own will to become the next king and he took his fathers priest Abiathar and Joab into his plan. Not all Israel!
4th probably - he put God last. He didn't even fear from the Lord and seems to me as if he is using Lord's name in vain.
