Very sad story
When I read this passage, I wondered how and why Israel easily fell into sin after witnessing the great power of God in their midst.
How did they become such a decadent nation. A nation with a whole tribe ordained by God as priest. This nation had the Levites who had no other job except to worship and guide the people.
How could a mother cause the downfall of not only her son, but the entire lineage by making an idol for the son as a reward for his good deed of returning a stolen money.
While meditating on this, it occurred to me that we are repeating the same atrocity in the world of today.
Today, the idol is money, women, men, nice cars, houses, power etc.. Today, we work 3 jobs with hardly any time for God.
in spite of numerous Christian movements that abound now even more than before, and numerous christian programs on the airwaves, internet etc. it is not uncommon to find ourselves repeating the mistakes of Micah.
May God saves us from mothers like Micah's mother. We are repeating the mistakes of old albeit in a new way.
