The two witnesses! Could it be?

I have been walking with the Lord for over 30 years and what intrigues me most about scripture is last days.

I made a study out of it and it has taken many different turns through the years.

I remember, when I first came to Christ, I picked up a book, my first Christian book, name 666, let me tell you I could not put it down, I think it was 200 pages and I read the same day. That is how much it intrigue me.

I don't think that book is available any more, but the Left Behind Series, is better.

Now that I got off my subject, lets get back it.

In the book of Revelation, chapter 11 we read about these two Godly men, or the two witnesses. But who are they?

In most of the teaching I received, the Pastors and some of mentors at the time justified that these two men were Enoch and Elijah.

Why? Because according to scripture; "It disappointed for man once to die."

Yep, I was taught this Enoch and Elijah were the only to men recorded in the bible that did not die.

Enoch walked with God and God took him and Elijah was sweep-ed away in a fiery chariot.

Yea I know, why am I addressing this and is relevant! Maybe not to the true followers of Christ, because prayerfully by than the we'll be ruptured, but then who knows except the Lord Himself.

You see we are living in the last days and as I have mention it so many times before there are things we just cannot predict.

The last days are going to be amazing and terrifying at the same time.

In my studies, I have always wonder who these two men could be, and it makes sense in many ways that instead of Enoch and Elijah, it would be Moses and Elijah.

It is speculation but like I said it makes sense when you read this verse:

"And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him(Matt 17:3)

In Pastor Jeff Lasseigne book "Unlocking the Last Days, he wrote these words and I quote:

"There have been other suggestions such as Joshua and Zerubbabel to olive trees in verse 4 (Rev.) or, Enoch and Elijah, since they are the only two people in the bible who went directly into heaven and did not die.

Since Hebrews 9:27 states "it is appointed for man to die once," some have suggested that these witnesses are Enoch and Elijah, who will finally die as martyrs during the tribulation period.

I don't find that theory very compelling. After all, in the rapture, millions of people will be caught up simultaneously and will go to heaven without having to die.

So if we take that line of reasoning away, there's no case for Enoch being one of these two witnesses. On the other hand, a very strong case can be made to suggest that these two witnesses will be Moses and Elijah.'

I happen to agree with Pastor Jeff, associate Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship. It just makes sense.

Another word to support this, as Pastor Jeff writes:

"One final piece of support for Moses and Elijah being the two witnesses is found at the in of Malachi's prophecy...

'Remember the the Law of Moses, my servant...Behold, I will send Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. (Mal. 4:4-5)

Yes I believe this subject is interesting and I agree with what Pastor Jeff has pointed out, that during the rapture, many followers will be caught up to meet the Lord without dying and it just makes sense that Moses and Elijah will be the two witnesses to come back to earth to witness to those who were left behind to repent and turn to God, before He finally returns.

If it is them, it is relevant and irrelevant at the same time, because no matter who they are, the sad fact is many people will not turn to God. In fact they will celebrate their death!

A Sad commentary to the human race and not only that, the fact the bible spells out they will not even allow their body's to be buried, they will become a display so the people can gloat over them and do who knows what to their corpse because of the torment they brought upon them who follow the anti christ:

"When they complete their testimonies, the beast that comes up out of the bottomless pit will declare war against them, and he will conquer them and kill them.

And their bodies will lie in the main street of Jerusalem... And for three and half days, all the peoples, tribes, languages and nations will stare at their bodies. No one will be allowed to bury them.

And all the people who belong to the world will gloat over them and give presents to each other to celebrate the death of the two prophets who had tormented them (Rev. 11:7-10)"

Now that is what i call sick, exchanging gifts like a Christmas because the beast kill these two Godly men!

But after this, God will breathed back life into them and order them to come back to heaven and a cloud will receive them, but would you think they would repent? Yes, though the bible don't state how many, many people do!

"...there was terrible earthquake that destroyed a tenth of the city. Seven thousand people died in that earthquake and everyone was terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. (Rev. 11:13)"

Yes the end times is a very interesting subject to study, and it is very easy to get caught up in it. It also can be a total distraction from learning everything else God wants us to know.
The reason I said that is because it happen to me. I focus on the in times in my early years walking with God that I didn't learn much about all the other things I was suppose to do.

Today it is much different for me. Each and everyday is a new learning experience in God word and everything is needed in its teaching so we can live in this world today.

We are living in a very fascinating time as we are seeing bible prophecy being fulfilled in our lives.

Time is short and Jesus could return in our life time. If He does come for His church now, then so be it, if not, then we still need to reach as many people as we can before the church is rapture and these two witnesses come back to earth to testify and witnesses to who is left. Because once they die and brought back to life and called back to heaven, then it will be to late.

Remember, God does not want any of us to parish, but that we all come to Him as it was in the beginning before the fall. The sad part is that even after the rapture of the church and the testimonies of these two witnesses, many still won't give their lives over to God.

We had it all at one and our ancestors, Adam and Eve gave it all up to be as God. Why?

I don't know except what scripture spells out but It doesn't really matter any more, what matters now is that "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NLT)

That is what counts and how do people learn this simple fact? From you and me!

Yes it is scary to speak to others about Jesus, because many of are a afraid or failing or being pushed away.

I am in that boat to, but remember this, God through His Holy Spirit, who dwells within us will guide and give us the proper words to say.

We are not alone in witnessing, God is there with us. It is worth repeating because it is so true.

The harvest is ripe because there are so many people searching today, they are lost and they need to be told of Jesus and what He did on the cross for us before the day of His wrath is spilled into the world.

So in conclusion as Jesus told us:

"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I AM with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matt 28:19-20 NLT)

Amen
