Jesus' Glorious Return - Pastor Mark McCarty #youversion notes

Paul spent a lot of time listing the eye witnesses to Jesus resurrection. Jesus never appeared in a public venue to unbelievers. He only appeared to those who believed in Him.

"and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born." (1 Corinthians 15:5-8 NIV)

Jesus will come again for unbelievers to see. Jesus said:

"You have said so," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." (Matthew 26:64 NIV)

Even those who don't believe will see Him.

"Look, he is coming with the clouds,"
and "every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him";
and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him."
So shall it be! Amen. (Revelation 1:7 NIV)

There is coming a day, and it's coming quickly, when Jesus will again appear publicly to the unbeliever. Not as a sacrifice but as what He is, Lord and God of all.

"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
king of kings and lord of lords." (Revelation 19:11-16 NIV)

The mighty men of the earth will try to hide from Him.

"Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains." (Revelation 6:15 NIV)

When Jesus returns in glory will you be standing watching with anticipation or hunting a cave in which to hide?

"that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:10, 11 NIV)

In the end every knee will bow and every tongue will acknowledge Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
