Hopeless Math
"When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved." Acts 27:20 NIV
Sometimes in this life we will struggle continuously. We will feel a lot like Paul and this boat full of men described in Acts 27. They were at sea in a storm.
We know that storms are coming, we know that God promises to see us through each and every one of them, as Paul ensured the men on this boat he would. However, we look around for signs to tell us this is true. We often struggle with taking God solely at his word and not trusting in what we see.
These men could not see anything but the storm for many days--- no stars, no sun, simply their dreadful circumstance. There were no visible signs of letting up either. The chapter ends with the men reaching land safely as God promised they would.
If only, they had figured Jesus into their equation. There math said, no stars + no sun = no hope.
What is your circumstantial math telling you?
How does your equation add up?
The real question is: are you counting on Jesus? Is He part of your equation? If not, your Math is definitely going to amount to "0"
