Proverbs 7 -- Avoiding ruin
I can see a father talking to his son about the danger of letting your manhood make your decisions. He is warning the son that our own foolishness is what will cause us to fall to our desires. He is telling us men that we must seek wisdom and insight so that we can overcome our urges and begin to see situations for what they are. Sex is a blessing from the Lord, but sex out of control will only lead us to lose our dreams and make it impossible to have a joyous life.
Promise
Those who pursue wisdom and insight will have a long and joyous life and be prepared to avoid situations that will bring them down
command
Seek wisdom and insight. Make it your purpose to be more wise and intelligent than everyone else
Warning
Without the wisdom of the Lord, you cannot see where your decisions are taking you and you will walk into the den of death, along with the foolish and lacking common sense young man
Application
I have woman at home whom I love very much. I have wife who loves me and is my best friend and who is amazingly sharp. I must be the example for the men in my ministry of what it means to be wise and insightful. I can just as easily fall like the man in proverbs if I don't work as difficult.
