Remember

The Psalmist is asking God to remember the agreement He made. I know it sometimes seems that God has forgotten us and when we call on him, and he doesn't answer, it's easy to believe that it's true. Anyone who has read any of my posts will know what I have to say about that. Just because you feel it doesn't make it real. Remember who God it and Remember his promises. I don't think God needs to remember, I think it is us that need to remember.
Yesterday at church, the speaker made a statement that blew me away. We were talking about the 4th of July festivities and how we sing "God bless America" and how we as a nation all want God's blessing on our country. But what he said is "What if God has already blessed America/" What did we do with it? Did we squander it? Did we use it for his glory and honor or our own? Did we take his blessings and "forget" all about God?
One thing I have noticed with the reading of the bible, is the way that history tends to repeat. Some things like technology advances us, but the paths are the same. I find that even if I don't want to, it's often easy to compare our presidents to the kings, and our country to the nation of Israel. Not because we are God's chosen, but we chose God! And look how far we have come! (Not a good thing). Just like the nation of Israel, we are a depraved nation on many fronts. Yes there are believers here but do we stand up and make ourselves heard or do we hide in fear of being laughed at and ostracized? We need to remember God and all that He is. We need to ask ourselves the a very important question. Is the blessing more important that the blessor? If it is, then we need to do a little remembering of our own? One important note is the blessings can fade and they can leave, God and his promises are forever. God doesn't forget, it's us who forget the promises we make to honor God and bring him glory. To put him first. Yet how easy it is for us to cry out and blame God for our own failings. Let yourself remember all that God has done, remember all that he is.
