The Wicked Want

"If you obey the Lord, you won't go hungry; if you are wicked, God won't let you have what you want."Proverbs 10:3 CEV

As I look around at the world around me, I struggle with the meaning of this verse. I see people who love the Lord struggling and while I personally don't see the hunger, I do see the lines outside the churches looking for help with food. I also see the wicked get rewards and gain from their very wickedness. Knowing that God doesn't lie, I have to ask myself if I really understand what God is saying here. The more I think of it, I am leaning toward peace. I would liken peace to a hunger that each of us have. The desire for rest from trouble and fears. I think there is a major hunger in our lives especially today to know peace. I also know that while it seems as if the wicked have everything, it's not usually the case for them to be at peace. They by their very acts have to keep going to stay on top of the pile. While it may "seem" as if they are living charmed lives, I doubt it is peaceful in their heart and soul. And when we are hungry or our soul is at war, there is no rest.
While Solomon could mean this literally and is talking about hunger and food, the promise remains the same. God will meet our needs, he never said anything about our wants.
