The bible is a collection of 66 books. The new testament has 27 books. Can we trust it? How were the 27 books chosen? Council of nicea put it together, but it took longer than that. Had to be first century writing with appostolic authority. Why are other books left out? The apocrypha still exists in the catholic bible. They are Jewish old testament writings - inter testament. They are not in the Hebrew bible. Apocryphal Acts also are not included because they were written too late. There are also other writings that were deemed unworthy and written too late. It is obvious when writings are not of God.
People struggle with the bible because they don't like what it says.
1. Moral law. Starts with 10 commandments, but makes up the entire bible.
2. Ceremonial law. Washings, etc, that went away with Jesus.
3. Dietary laws. For good health. Also went away with Jesus.
4. Sacrificial law. Blood forgives sin. Jesus fulfilled this law.
So the only law left is the moral law. That's what our culture disagrees with. Is the bible wrong? Rom 1:26-28 homosexuality is wrong. Lev 20:13 abomination! If it is wrong about this, what else is wrong? Either you take it all or you don't. Apart from Christ, you will not inherit the kingdom of God.
There is no evidence that homosexuality or trans-sexuality are genetic. They are simply sins. We need to show them grace and compassion. But the bible is not wrong! Truth is truth.
The bible also holds theological truth. Can't buy forgiveness. Purgatory is not a true doctrine. Priests don't have to be celibate. So we disagree with Catholics.
Be strong in Christ!
