But I wish God Would Speak

Really?!? There are sometimes I have to admit that I wish God would speak and point specifically in a direction so I would KNOW it was right. But taking that step of faith is more important. Zophar's arrogance knows no bounds. How many times have we had "friends" who have spoken to us with the same attitude. How many people have we "judged" based on present circumstances without having the full story. Zophar does not know that this is a test that God is allowing but presumes to know what God is doing through his words. Yet if we step back, are we not guilty of the same? Maybe we didn't say it to our friends but have you looked at someone who is homeless and judged them based on their homelessness - not knowing what circumstance has brought them there? Have you looked at someones outside appearance and judged them? Someone who is overweight and thought - "they need to step away from the table"? when their overweight could be from an undiagnosed medical condition. Would you want God to speak to you then? I know I have judged others unfairly, and I surely wouldn't want to hear the disappointment in my heavenly fathers voice when I got it wrong. Job is honest in his response to God. He doesn't understand and he is taking those concerns directly to God. There is nothing wrong with that. That is what God wants - us to bring our fears, discontent, hurt to him. Talking to him and listening to him, leads us to a deeper relationship. The only foolish talk I see here is from Zophar. It is far better to stay silent and hold the hand of a friend in pain, that to spout nonsense we know nothing about. That held hand conveys the love they need. The ear listens to the outpouring of pain. We don't always have to understand we just need to trust the one who does.
