How many of us likes to take orders or do what we are told?

Come on, be honest, you really won't fail this test.

Ok, I admit it, i really don't like being told what to do, especially since I am an adult and know my way around.

Yeah, I'll say I know my way around, from working and raising a family, I really don't need to be instructed on anything, in fact I wrote the book on how to succeed.

So why am I in turmoil? Because I don't follow instructions and if i do, it is half heartily.

Yep, that us humans, even though we think we doing fine, we basically go through the motions and it really doesn't get us anywhere.

So this brings me to my text today:

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye on you."

Here is where some us, if we are honest, knows that we pick and choice what we want to learn from the Lord, I know I do just to many times. But here is the secret of success in our present life and that is to follow and put into practice what God is teaching us. It is so simple, but it us who makes it so difficult.

Don't think you're off the hook, because honestly, all Christians do this.

God tells not to gossip, and what do we do? We gossip.

God tells us not to steal, and what do we do? We steal. (What i mean here is like the little white lies we tell thinking it causes no harm, its like talking pens and and paper from work, you get the picture)

God says not to lie, should we even go there? Even our biblical ancestors did this, like Abraham, who did it twice to protect his own life; "Sarah you are my sister not my wife." Yeah you know and he did twice, and his son Jacob, no better.

So I think you get the picture.

Here is the simple fact, we need to set still and listen, and listen intently to what the Lord is telling us to.

Our text book for life is the bible or like the acronym I heard about the bible "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth." Ok, I am sorry for that one, but come on, admit it, it is true.

Yes to succeed is to obey god, His ways are flawless and perfect, even through we not see it at the time.

Yes we may go through hardships, but it test us where our hearts really are, if we are in obedience, then we are learning to lean on Him, which is His instructions.

Everything we need is in His word and once we surrender and obey, each and everyday we become more like Him. That should be our goal in life, to be more like our Lord.

Do I fail? Yes and anyone who reads these notes knows that, but what i say about myself is to let you know that I am human and have flaws that only God can correct as I follow Him. It is about admitting my weaknesses and seeking His ways so I can become the man God what me to be.

So don't take lightly what Jesus is telling us. Every part of the His teaching we need to follow and that is the bottom line. If we fail, seek His forgiveness and learn from your error and move on and let the seed, the word, grow and grow in you.

So if you think you can pick and choice what you want from His teaching, then you are being deceived.

Everything in His word is for are benefit, take and eat up, let soak into the hard heart of yours and mine and soften it up, because if the seed is not water and tries to go into hard ground it dies, but when it is in moist soil, it grows and grows. The water is His word, the seed is in your heart. Surrender and obey everything He is teaching on the way would live.
