Ultimate Goal- FREEDOM from the bondage of drama, chaos, and crisis that comes with a difficult relationship!
When dealing with difficult people, The most basic boundary setting word is “No”. It’s biblical to not allow people to hurt you. We must learn to LOVE! If you love God, you will love yourself and others enough to say NOOOOO!
Matt5:37- All you need to say is “yes” or “no” anything beyond this is from the evil one.
James 5:12- Above all, do not swear... Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No" be no, or you will be condemned.
Proverbs 4:23- Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Boundaries are healthy, necessary, biblical, respectful and loving!! Boundaries are not selfish or sinful!!
TRUTH- Satan attacks children of God in this area, more intensely, to keep them too involved with challenging relationships... preventing them from focusing on their relationship with the Lord/keeping them in bondage! Difficult people create problems for others, will not listen, criticize others to make them feel better about themselves, rarely cooperate, and always find negative things in people/things.
When being violated by someone difficult... First, own your part in it by asking God to help you see clearly what you are doing wrong. Try to address your personal issues of low self-esteem, codependency, past history of abuse and your need for approval or need to please others. Seek help of godly counsel if you are too consumed to see things clearly.
Eph4:26 Don’t take on the offense and give the devil a foothold. Eph4:15- Always speak truth. (Don’t be so consumed with troubles... Find scripture to speak truth to your situation)
STOP THE EXCUSES- There is no excuse to allowing yourself to live in bondage. As a child of God, you have all you need in him... no matter what is happening in your life!!
The answer to every problem:
Matthew 11:28- Come to me all who are burdened and I will give you rest!
Proverbs3:5-6- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
John 14:16-17- The holy spirit has been sent to give us counsel.
As a believer, you have the spirit of God in you... deep desires to make a move in your life, you know the ones that won’t go away?? Those desires are more than likely God speaking to you. Step out of your situation and into the presence of GOD!
Say “no” when needed and learn to hear what the Holy Spirit is guiding you to do...
1st- Receiving GRACE- salvation (Romans 10:9) 2nd- Walking in GRACE- Depend on God in everything. Let him transform you by leaning on truth!!
In order to get transformed, we need to own our part in it... Set boundaries in your difficult relationship with your co-workers, your children, your spouse, etc.
Love the Lord first, and let him transform you into a person that loves himself/herself enough to set a boundary. HEAR the voice inside you that says “ENOUGH is ENOUGH!”
Prayer- Dear Lord, I’m so thankful for the damaging relationships I've had in my life! It was the very thing that brought me to you! Though, I realized in a few of these relationships, the reason I couldn’t escape was because the problem was within myself! But, today I rejoice in your cleansing power that has transformed me into who I am today.
As the years passed of walking hand and hand with you, I finally hear you clearly... when you say, “Enough is Enough! It's time to let go of this relationship, time to let go of that relationship!” My enormous trust in you, helped me to let go of people that were no good for who I was "in you"... Some relationships you send me back to and others may be gone forever. But, my love for you has helped me not experience too much pain from the loss. I realize after letting go... it's a small price to pay, compared to the what I GAINED in YOU! Thank you for being all I need!
I know what you were waiting for was for me to let go of the dreams I had for myself, so that you could replace them with the dreams you had for me! I couldn’t be happier about the condition of my heart and my life! I’m glad you’re in control. I will trust you always! KV
