Strength for today
As I read this part of the story today, I realize that I would have seen God's hand differently. I would have assumed that when Elijah told me, "The jar of flour will not run out and the bottle of oil will not become empty before God sends rain on the land and ends this drought," that I would have "known" he meant that the drought would be over tomorrow. All I had to do was make this one last batch of biscuits...one for Elijah, then one for my son and myself. Then, all my flour and oil would be gone and the drought would be over! I think I might have been very disppointed when I woke up the next morning to find more flour and more oil. I much prefer to wake up and find that the trouble is over, than to wake up and find more strength for today. And, I'd probably have to dig for that strength each day. That wasn't the miracle I had in mind! However, I look at what she would have missed out on if the "trouble" had been over and Elijah had left! She saw her own son raised from the dead! THAT was the miracle God intended her to see, and she would have missed that if the flour and oil had run out!
