Trust and Submission

When faced with what looks like certain death, would I have the trust in God needed to reply as these three did

"...Your Majesty, we don't need to defend ourselves. The God we worship can save us from you and your flaming furnace..."

That is trust and faith believing that God is able and willing and will deliver you. I believe lots of us exhibit this in our lives. It may not be the fiery furnace of those days but it could be our job.

The important thing to me these three said however is the last part.

..."But even if he doesn't, we still won't worship your gods and the gold statue you have set up..."

That is submission and what this tells us is that they trusted God to be able to deliver from their situation, but they also trusted God to do what was best. That's hard cause we think we know what is best. And having been in situations where I disagreed with the way God handled it, it's was rough being in that relationship, until I realized that God is God and I am not, and in order to trust him, I had to submit to his will as well.
God doesn't always do what we want him to do. Casting Crowns has a song "Somewhere In The Middle", that has a line stating

"With eyes wide open to the differences
The God we want and the God who is
But will we trade our dreams for His
Or are we caught in the middle."

When God does not do what we want, or think he should will we still stand up like Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego? Can we honestly say that regardless I will trust him? That is submitting to God. Allowing God to be God in my life.
