Troubles are your chance to grow
The Bible tells us to be glad when troubles, difficulties, & hard times come our way. WHAT??? There must be some mistake!! Why Lord? Why in the world should I be glad when troubles & difficulties come to me?? God says, we should be glad because it provides us with an opportunity to grow. Well, Lord, if that's what it does, then I don't want to grow! Just let me sit right here & be happy. Think about that for a minute; would you want that for your child? To always be a newborn & never ever grow from that stage?? No, because you would know something isn't right with my child & we'd go to the doctor to get help & fix it! We want to see our children grow! God wants to see us grow, as well. Babies don't like changing from milk to solid food. I remember my mother feeding my 6 month old son, & each time she put the spoonful in, he'd wallow it around & spit most of it back out. Patiently, she would gather it up on the spoon again & put it back in his mouth! My brother was carefully taking all this in & after about the 4th time, he asked my mother how many times she was going to recycle that spoonful of food! Her reply; "as many as it takes".
God does this with us. Difficulties come our way to teach us things. Maybe patience, so we are always facing difficult situations in which we have to wait! God's going to keep them coming until we learn to "wait" peacefully & calmly. Maybe, it's loving people who are hard to love. Maybe, it's strengthening your faith, & you find yourself in situations that only God can solve & your faith waivers. God will continue to place you in those situations until you are able to rest & know that God will take care of it & if He doesn't; that you will still serve Him & praise Him knowing (thru faith) that He is doing what's best for you! He wants us to grow into strong confident children, therefore ; He places us where we need to be to grow.
Growing isn't easy. It requires us to be challenged in areas of weakness. When you decide to exercise, the day after your body is in pain from using muscles that you haven't used. Each day that you continue to exercise makes it easier. After about 4 weeks, the soreness has gone away & it's getting easier because you feel stronger & more confident that you can do it! That's how our growth works. As we face the challenges, look at what God wants you to learn. Strive to strengthen yourself (grow) in that area each time you are placed in difficult situations. God will give us strength to grow. He sees that you are trying & hHe honors that!
Start looking at the difficulties in your life as an opportunity to get stronger in your walk with God. Ask yourself, what is God trying to teach me? Ask God, Lord, what is it that You want me to learn from this?
Lord, when troubles & hardships come my way, show me what I need to learn. Help me to grow on my weak & shaky legs as a child of God so that You & only You will be glorified !
