Cross Defined II-Bishop Jeffery Leath

*In this passage, Jesus uses the cross to define his ministry and who he is and will be.
*Jesus asked the disciples who he was.
-Peter declared that he was the Messiah.
-Jesus' definition of Messiah was different than the traditional perception of this glorious king.
-Jesus defined himself as a king that walks with the people.
*So why did Jesus say get behind me Satan to Peter?
-Even if you have the right answer, you might be faking it until you making it.
-We have to realize that it's not just about what you display on the outside, but also on the inside.
*When you become defined by the cross, you are anointed..
-The cross is not really about us,it's about something more than us. We are called to relate to the people around us.
~God called us to praise not only for what God has done for us, but what he is doing for others.
~Our relationship with God is not only vertical, but also horizontal when we take care of each other and the world we live in.
~When we met Jesus, we were all about ourselves; it's not until we give up our cross of selfishness.
-Our relationship with God makes us family.
~It also allows us to tap into the supernatural realm and release the things of God.
~It also requires us to serve. We can't be an occasional employee of God, but rather a full-time slave or a servant of the most high God.
