All The Wrong Motives
Growing up as a "preacher's kid", & being in many different churches, I can definitely tell you that for most (not all) of them, there is one constant regardless! What might that be, you ask? Fighting amongst themselves!!!
So,.....why in the world do believers fight amongst themselves? You would think, that we would seek what God wants & treat each other with the love of Christ!! Yet, some of the worst fighting I've seen is in the body of Christ! God's children start huge, destructive wars over the stupidest things! I think the new carpet should be blue. What? Blue??!! No! It should be gray. I hate those praise & worship songs. We need to sing the old hymns! Those old hymns are just that.....OLD!! Every other church is singing praise & worship & we should too! We need to get a screen & projector too, like all the other churches have! .....No doubt, the list of insane wars that go on within the body of Christ is endless !!
Are you still asking yourself why we fight amongst ourselves when we, of all people, should be operating in His love & seeking out what He wants? God answers that for us in James 4:1-3. He says our evil desires put us at war within ourselves. We want what we don't have & begin scheming to get it! We are jealous of what others have. We can't get what they have, & this begin to fight to take it away from them!
God doesn't sugar coat anything for us. He doesn't care if you're offended or your feelings get hurt. Those are childish feelings! God expects us to put Him first & our own selfish desires in a grave!! Nothing in The Kingdom of God is about what you want!! My teenage children STILL THROW TEMPER TANTRUMS like they did when they were 2 years old when they don't get what they want! Our flesh is always in a battle with our spirit. My flesh wants what it wants & gets mad when it can't get it's way! The Bible, also, tells us to put away childish things & to crucify our flesh daily! You can't keep saying we have faith & the love of God for others without some ACTIONS!! Faith without works is dead, empty, & just not worth one red penny!!
God continues in telling us what our problem is. In fact, He very bluntly says, " Do you know why you don't have what you want?" "BECAUSE YOU DON'T ASK GOD FOR IT!!!!!" He's not done with us either!! He continues His reprimand to us by saying, "When you do ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong!! You ask me for various things so that you will get personal pleasure!! You want your way & will throw a tantrum if you don't get it!". REALLY? This is what I'm doing?? Well, God says, yeah, that is what you're doing & I can't understand why in the world you are being so selfish instead of growing up & seeking MY WILL, MY PLAN, & WHAT IS BEST FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD!!!!!!!!
God is severely grieved when His children engage in fussing , fighting, & seeking their own personal pleasure! Satan loves to come to church & rip it to shred by stirring up selfish desires that create wars , which tear apart & destroy the body of Christ! When we are at war amongst ourselves we aren't building up The Kingdom of God! Folks, we are here to seek His Kingdom & add to it, not rip it , tear it, & ultimately destroy it!
What are you're motives, when asking God for "this or that"?? If it's not in the best interest of our Lords Kingdom, then you need to check your motives at the door, ask the Lord to forgive you, & begin to seek Him & His kingdom !!! He promised us that if we humble ourselves, & honestly seek Him (aligning our desires with His desires & plans, that we would find Him!! Begin, today, asking yourself what your motives are when making decisions. Seek His Kingdom, & operate in love, union, while crucifying "selfish motives" each & every day!
Precious Father, forgive me for seeking what I want without putting myself aside to seek You & add to your Holy Kingdom. Open my eyes, as I seek You & Your will , crucifying my way daily! Grant me wisdom in aligning my desires with Yours & in every decision I make. I want all that I do bring honor, glory & praise to You! I want to build (add to) Your Kingdom, not destroy pieces of it! Make my motives always be to honor You & increasing Your Kingdom!!
