They Gave Themselves
Every single one of us has heard sermon after sermon about "giving our money". God absolutely asks us to tithe. If you are familiar with tithing, I'm certain you know why it is important that we honor God as He directs us with our tithes & offerings . What about you? Have you given yourself?
In today's world, I often fall prey to my busy schedule & feeling as if I can barely get it all done each day! This verse caught my attention! It says, "their FIRST ACTION was to GIVE THEMSELVES to The Lord & to us..." . Wow! Their first action wasn't to reach in their pocket & hand out some cash. It was to give themselves!
Ok, so what does that really mean? We tend to make it complicated when it is really very simple! Give yourself to God. Be willing & ready to do what He wants you to do even if you have to pit something you thought was important aside. In giving yourself to God, you are giving yourself to others. Again, I have to be willing to put what I planned to do on the back burner & give ME to others! Maybe someone needs a visit in a nursing home, or a sick friend needs a visit & a meal for her family. It could be that someone needs help cleaning their yard, or mowing it because their law mower is broken. Possibly, someone needs a phone call, a word of encouragement, to be driven to the doctor or help cleaning their house. If you sit down & make a list of ways to give yourself to others, I'm sure it will end up being at least several pages!
Make that list! Decide today that , FIRST, you are going to give yourself!!
Father, I give myself to you. Open my eyes & lead me in giving myself to others that You will be honored & Your Kingdom will grow!
