it's so exciting

RED LETTER DAY!
i am posting this note to thank everyone who prayed for someone i gave the Bible to during May this year. Today she took the step of asking Jesus to be her Lord and Savior, to trust her life to Him. Her spontaneous prayers of "i love you Lord" (+ other things quite obviously from the heart which were not "formal prayers" but which fit the definition "worship in spirit and truth") that followed was a joy to witness. It is the most wonderful privelledge to be present at a person's new birth. It is the most important job we can do - that's not a boast but a statement of priorities. As the life comes from God (and he did all the hard work, like creating the earth & all that is in it, being born, growing up, teaching & healing, then the really hard work of dying on the cross, being resurrected as life from the dead), then all the glory goes to Him, our role is so small, merely like the role of a midwife assisting in a natural birth. I have neither been a physical midwife nor given birth, but if being a physical midwife is just a tiny %ge as exciting as being a "spiritual midwife" present during someone's spiritual new birth, then midwifery must be an awesome career.
It was the first time i was present and participating in "leading someone to the Lord" right up to the Decision stage (we all witness and sow/water spiritual seeds, but that is the earlier stages, and if we teach/pastor then that may include helping at the decision stage at times but the job appears to be mainly the later stages of growth). This event has occurred >22 years after i became born again (so if anyone reading this has been discouraged at not having seen that particular sort of spiritual fruit yet in his/her life, then be encouraged, you may yet have this wonderful experience, i hope you will often, but it's not for me to say when, the event will be seen if, where, when & how frequently the Lord wills. But don't worry about visible fruit, all believers's work for the Lord at any stage in the process of salvation is valuable, we work by faith, regardless of how visible the fruit is/is not to us at any time).
For those who prayed (or are curious), the original prayer request was made in my note entitled "day 26 but written on day 27" (posted on May 23 this year), if you go to my profile and read that note and remember "hey, i prayed for that lady", then enjoy knowing that your prayer has been answered.
When God shines his light and a person sees the light, it is "life from the dead" we are witnessing. It is hard to find words to express what an awesome privelledge it is to be there.
Youversion Bible App played a crucial part too, it was "more than a co-incidence" that the dear lady said an observation about the subject of faith, Hebrews 11:1 was so relevant & met a spiritual need, and i was immediately able to go get my mobile phone, show that Hebrews 11:1 was today's VOTD, and ask the question "don't you think its beyond co-incidence that someone in USA who has never met us and doesn't know the details of our lives, chose that verse out of all the verses in the Bible, sent the signal up to the satellite, it came back down to my mobile phone in England, and we met again today...." (we have not met very often since May, and the times when we have met have been unpredictable not routine or planned by either of us) "....and you have brought up that verse without any prompting from me, don't you think that God knew what you needed early this morning about 15 hours ago, when the people in USA and i had no idea then that you & i would be having this conversation now? I think it's God's way of showing that he is in control of the situation and that he is there for you, and i think he wants you to know that. To me that verse coming from people whose names i don't know in the USA is a miracle, not a co-incidence). And that "co-incidence/miracle" helped the conversation progress .... and we know the happy result now. I also found "PLEASE READ" note posted by ethantrull (can be found via my profile's Likes section) helpful, and the "search" (concordance) feature of this app, in particular looking up 1Corinthians 15:52, most helpful. thanks, contributors.
Hallelujah.!

PS today (daytime) was Yom Kippur, i found out later.
