Action is a better witness
As a teenager growing up, I went to visit people to invite them to church or share the "Roman Road. I was taught to "preach the Word". Let me make sure I say that preaching the Word is awesome! We need to share God's Word; however, many are sick of hearing His Word when our actions don't line up with the Word.
Jesus never beat anyone to death, figuratively speaking, with the Scrolls! He went to them where they were & He met their needs long before He began sharing the Gospel!
If I see that someone needs food, & I have money in my pocket to buy them some food, but don't ; then I have failed Jesus. I know lots of people, who see a need( like that) & they have an abundance of food stored up & money in their pockets, but tells the person in need they will pray that God sends them some food! God uses willing vessels. The person that says, "I will pray for you" , but has what it takes to fulfill that need has failed God!!
God says empty words & constant preaching at someone doesn't lift Him up so that He can draw all men to Him!! My job is to lift Jesus up. When I lift Him up, He has said that HE will draw men to Him! Words are easily spoken. Actions are easily read!! we are to be a people of action/doing!!! We certainly can't meet everyone's needs. Praying with them ,and for them, when you have no way to meet the need IS what we should do, but when you see a need that you can help with, DO IT!!
We are God's vessels. Pray that He leads you in meeting the needs of others so that He is lifted up!! Sometimes, the needs are very simple: a smile, kind word, encouragement, some of your time, preparing some food to give.....Each of us needs to ask the Lord to help us be an ACTION christian and then we will have the opportunity to share Him with others!
Lord, lead us today and each day that we will be your vessels in meeting the needs of others. Help us to ask ourselves, when we recognize the needs of others, if this is a need I can help with and if it is; jump in and help!!
