Promises to those who fear The Lord

What is "fear" of The Lord? It does not mean that you are terrified, shaking & wanting to scream for help! "Fear" of The Lord is REVERENCE, that's joined with hope & love!! This reverence is a filial reverence! What is filial? Glad you asked! This the respect, obedience & care that a child gives to a parent. Ah, the pieces are coming together! Fear of God simply means: as His child, I am respectful, obedient, hopeful (in Him), and I show genuine, deep love for The Lord, Who is my Father!! Fear of God is awesome!!
To those of us who fear Him, He's given many promises! Food, spiritual & physical, lands of other nations, that everything He does is just & good, His commandments are trustworthy, forever true, He has paid a full ransom for you, that He always remember His covenant with you, & has guaranteed His covenant with you FOREVER!!! Now, if that don't rev up your engine nothing will!
In verse 10, it says: "Fear of The Lord is the foundation for true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom!!!! I have often prayed asking God to give me wisdom in my daily decisions This one verse shows me how easily God provides His wisdom to me! We always have to have a foundation if we are going to build anything. Without a foundation, whatever we build will fall. God tells me that fear of Him (respect, obedience, hopeful, show deep love for Him) is the foundation for TRUE wisdom. At times, as a young Christian, I felt that if I asked for His wisdom, He'd just open up my brain & pour it in! Now, I know that is a ridiculous thought! I have to have the foundation in place first. Most of us will say that we do our best each day to respect, obey, & love God! So, now what? The Bible says: ..."all who obey His commandments WILL GROW IN WISDOM!" It didn't say maybe, or hopefully,...it said WILL GROW!! How awesome & good is our God?!! We are promised (true) will grow in us when we are respecting Him, obeying Him, placing our hope in Him, & showing our deep love for Him!
That one verse gives me a simple & sure road map for each day! First, to respect, obey, hope & deeply love God I must know Him; just as a child has an intimate/close relationship with mama & daddy. Think with me for a minute, how does that human relationship happen? We aren't born with it, that's for sure! When a couple has a baby, they are elated! For the next 18 (& more) years, the paren & child spend lots & lots & lots of time together. As the parent interacts with their child (many times) each day; the bond is established & grows deeper & stronger with each passing day !! Soon, the child is walking, talking, & is seeking the parent out because he/she wants to spend time with them. THIS is how our wisdom grows! God is our Father. We are born again spiritually & we begin to interact with our Father each & every day!! Soon, we are seeking God out! We want more time with Him!! We want to be "in His Presence" as much as we can! That parent child bond is getting stronger each day. We are, now, talking to The Lord when we clean the bathroom, driving down the road,...without even realizing it, wisdom is growing inside of us through our intimacy with our Father!
There is, however, a flip side .....unfortunately, some parents do not have a closeness or bond with their child. They don't interact with the child & have very little to do with their child. The child grows, but does not seek the parent out. He/She has no respect for the parent (maybe due to drug addiction, alcohol abuse, all their time revolves around work...). Disobedience & resentment forms instead of the sweet bond. God, our Father, isn't like any earthly father. He is always there for us, craves spending time with us, teaches us... Ok, God is the perfect father so why are there so many that don't respect Him, & love & obey Him? If you reflect for a moment, those early stages after birth are very short. After that, the child seeks the parent out! He/She gets very excited when mama/daddy come in the room! They follow you with their eyes, & hold out their arms reaching for you!! As a mother, that is one of the top five of life's greatest moments!! My child knows me, loves me & wants to be with me!! That's why there are so many rebellious, angry, disobedient people in the world. They aren't seeking out their Father. Time with Him just doesn't happen, so no bond/intimacy has formed.
Wisdom, happiness, and peace are 3 things I hear people say they want in their lives. As God's child, you must seek Him, spend time with Him, involve Him in everything you do, get to know Him & regardless of what comes your way you will have His wisdom, happiness & peace!

Precious, Holy Father, You are so good to me. You provide for me & love me as no one else could! Thank You, Lord for the many promises You've given me that are true & trustworthy! Father, I will seek You daily (reading & studying Your word & talking to You all thru my day making sure to listen to Your Voice as well. I want to grow in wisdom and intimacy with You Lord for I long to be close to You!!
