what's in my heart
I am to guard my heart above everything else. God says that what's in my heart determines everything about who I am.
What's in my heart? Is it compassion, caring, loving, understanding, or judgmental, harsh, hate, envy, anger...
Whatever's in my heart comes out in my actions. How do I treat people I don't really like? Am I judging those who stand on the street with a sign that says hungry? Does selfishness show when I tell others it's all I can do to take care of my own family & I can't give/help anyone else. Have I heard myself say, "Those people always seem to need help. We shouldn't just keep giving & giving to them. ".
My heart is where I have asked my Lord to live. I want only what honors Him to be in my heart. That means , I need to check myself often & be very careful what I allow to enter into my heart! My thoughts & actions show what's in my heart. I need to be aware of what I'm thinking & doing so that if it doesn't honor God, I can stop & take charge of that thought or action & bring it in line with what Gods Word tells me.
Making sure that I keep the right thoughts & actions growing in my heart is a constant job! The scripture says, "KEEP GUARD..." That means a constant watch!! Guarding my heart is a daily job! There will be times when I realize that I've allowed wrong thoughts into my heart & times when I act inappropriately. When that happens , I can do my best to correct what I've done & ask God to forgive me & keep me from that same sin again. When I realize I've done that , then I have to examine my heart & remove what doesn't belong there with the power of God. Only through Him can my heart be changed.

Lord, help me to guard my heart daily. Fill my heart Lord with You that You will be honored always in my life!
