Money Was His God

It just occurred to me when reading these verses that even though Judas Iscariiot was one of Jesus' disciples who followed Him everywhere, Judas never fully made Jesus his Lord. Money was his god. He stole from the money entrusted to him by Jesus & the other disciples. He couldn't get past Mary using something extravagently expensive to worship Jesus. He ultimately sold out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. So he never had let go of money .... which for him, stood between him and salvation.

Money is not evil. Jesus & the disciples used money for good deeds. God rewarded Solomen with riches. It takes money to support missionaries, feed the poor, run ministries. But putting money before God is sin. For Judas, who was eye witness to Jesus' miracles & teachings, he let money be first in his heart and did not receive that most valuable gift right in front of his very eyes.
