nothing wasted
the more i learn about God the more awe i find that he can do far more than we ask, that our cups runneth over. We expected what we would find to be "good" and found it to be "amazing". things dovetail like a carpenter woild make a skilled joint. actions that are good also resonate and have a benign knock on effect. There is a "strange symmetry" about things sometimes. And thinking about the Body metaphor, one part of a body, say an eye, is happy when another, say a toe, is well. Jesus said "love your enemies" well this week i read about someone (who i used to dislike greatly) doing a (secular) training exercise and being told "when you are pushed to what you think is the limit, you are actually functioning at 50% of potential". yesterday i realised "that person could have been talking about the situation where Jesus has told someone 'go the second mile' and they do & find they can.....". I never expected i would ever get a theology lesson from that person who i read about - talking about someone "in the public eye" who (whatever else that person may be known for) is not known for being a christian (and has said some apparrently quite unchristian things in public before now). i have not prayed for that person yet (shame, should have done, am doing so now). will you do so too please? sorry, even if i read a story soon about this person getting born again round about now, i don't feel at liberty to identify who/what/where/when/why/how. but there could be some amazing story we find out (even if it's after arrival in heaven) where we discover "hey, that happened to that person, who we prayed for when reading a note dated 20121021, who would have guessed the note was about (name, who we meet in heaven too), and our prayers had a part in (details of that persons story), wow, the lord works in mysterious ways sometimes..." and then i am happy, you are too, so is "that person", and as we are obeying God in praying, God must be happy too. Wow, win-win situation, like winning an accumulator bet, only even better than that. please, will you pray for "mystery person, details available in heaven, but not before then" (not someone i have anything to do with apart from read about in newspapers). will you pray for me, because i have been so slow to realise how even apparently small/mystifying things can "work together for good" because God often does more than we ask for if the things are consistent with his will, he has that power, we just don't realise it sometimes (fault being with one, not with him, at those times). we will have some real good surprises in heaven, methinks, when stuff that has mystified us on earth get revealed then. maybe some answers are being held until then because if we found them all out on earth, it would blow our earthly minds? i wonder.
