physical discipline of children

Even though I haven't physically smacked or spanked my eight year old son since he was about the age of two when I only lightly smacked his hand I believe what this proverb advises is correct advice to parents as a spanking of a child as long as it isn't done with excessive force I believe is much better for disciplining a child shouting or verbally rebuking them because even though a smacked bottom or the hand might upset them initially the child usually quickly learns his or her lesson but soon recovers from the smack and forgets all about it whereas a verbally rebuking with a raised voice has the potential of giving your child a mental and/or emotional scar which can effect them and be harder to forget for potentially a much longer period of time, maybe days weeks, months or even years if it was done with anger and harshness in your voice which should never be directed at anyone especially a child who you should love and are meant to being an example to
