where's the booty?
luke 12:34
34 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
also see psalms 37:4
4 delight thyself also in the lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
think of the things that get you really excited. skateboarding, movies, music, drinking with your buddies, getting high, darkness. some of these things are all right, some aren't.
a lot of times in this life we forget that it is temporary, that is just the beginning. if we are promised everlasting life from god then we will get everlasting life. that's a long time. longer than 90 years. even though it is a temporary life it is a life we have to take seriously and with good judgement. if you don't know something look it up in your life guide (god's word, the holy bible, i prefer the KJV only because it has been around for 300 years and i think it will be around another 300 years, but any version that makes it so you understand and touches your heart works too)
take a moment to really think about the things that get you going, make you happy, light a fire under your butt, inspire you, move you. i really like psalms 37:4 (paraphrasing) if your heart delights in the lord, the lord will give you what your heart delights in. some people look at that verse and think that they can "things" when they delight in the lord. the big thing, the main thing, what god wants, he wants you to want him. he wants you to want him. if you are delighted in the lord he will give you the desires of your heart. if you look at that verse and the first thing you feel is covetousness (i could get something!) you may be wrong.
where are your treasures? what are the types of things you treasure? if the house was on fire what would you grab? if you were on fire for eternity would you wish you had different treasures?
if jesus returned right now and you are high, how do you think that would make him feel? if you were drunk? if you were in the middle of a dirty joke? watching porn? wishing someone would get beat up? wishing someone was dead?
give thanks to the lord for the things you have, your life, salvation, eyes to see and ears to hear, a heart that is not hardened,
grace = give thanks to the lord for what he has given you that you do not deserve = everlasting life.
mercy = give thanks to the lord for not giving you what you do deserve = death.
