An Honest Plea Turns Vindictive
In chapter 17 Job sends out an honest plea to God. He earnestly claims his innocence and pours out his heart to God. However, his anger towards his friends turns vindictive in verse 5.
Job 17:5, 15 NLT
"They betray their friends for their own advantage,
so let their children faint with hunger."
I believe Job has crossed the line here. It is one thing to pour out your heart to God. Even sharing your anger is acceptable. However, vindictiveness is not exceptable before God. Vengeance belongs to God and God alone.
