Disciplines For The Flesh
God says through Hosea, "My people are bent on backsliding."
Paul says, "Put no confidence in the flesh." No wonder each day we must be renewed and refreshed. God says don't go a day without getting refreshed and refilled. "Even the youth shall faint and utterly fall but they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with eagles." (Isaiah 40:30)
Refuse to become prideful. God puts pride at the top of the list of sins that He hates the most. You can't walk this spiritual journey without the help of the Lord each day. When I choose to rush ahead in the day without getting filled up, I take the risk of growing weary and tired and faint in my walk with God.
Why was Israel always complaining and whining about their circumstances? The daily mana that fell from the sky was a simple reminder to each of us that I must have His daily bread in my soul and spirit every day. Jesus says; "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Father." (Matthew 4:4)
There are no spiritual superstars in life. It doesn't matter if your Billy Graham or the pastor of the largest church in America, we all need a day by day stop in hearing the whispers of the Father.
Just one word of encouragement, one word of direction, one word that brings peace in your quagmire. Take time today and hear what He has to say to you through prayer and His word.
