Don't push the kids away - love them, teach them

Matthew 19:13-15
Then children were brought to Him so He might put His hands on them and pray. But the disciples rebuked them. Then Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and don’t try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this.” After putting His hands on them, He went on from there.

Jesus takes the children into His arms and blesses them. He doesn't reject them or their parents for bringing them. These children are the upcoming generation and must not be brushed aside. The children incredibly important to Jesus and are taken quite seriously by Him. The children are in His presence when He is teaching and are then brought closer to be touched and blessed.

I must learn also to take children seriously. I must in no way forsake their spiritual learning nor forsake their blessings through loving contact. The children need to be loved. If I am the hands and feet of Jesus then I am to be blessing them by placing my hands on them, blessing them, hugging them, etc. I must also realize that they can learn more than they often get credit for. Many times they are left to be coloring a picture when they could easily be learning the truths of GOD and even be learning from an early age how to teach others about Christ. I must not do anything to keep the children from coming to Christ.

LORD GOD and Father there is none like You in love. You care for Your little ones so very deeply. Please forgive me when I forsake the commission You have given me to love, bless and teach these children. Please teach me to love them as You do. Give me wisdom to usher them into Your presence. Lead me in teaching them Your truths. May I never underestimate the impact that they can have in teaching Your gospel. May You be glorified in all I do - in the name of Jesus amen.
