Jesus, being GOD in the flesh, already knew what these men wanted. Even those who were on the side of the road with the blind men knew what they wanted. So why does Jesus ask them what they want? When Jesus instructs His disciples to pray He tells them that the Father already knows what they need (Mat 6:8). The reason they have to ask is because Jesus wants them to articulate their request for their own benefit. In stating their request they are demonstrating to themselves their faith in His ability to heal thus strengthening their faith, demonstrating faith to those around them and bringing glory to GOD.

I must learn that Jesus is ready to hear my requests but I must be willing to step out in faith and make my requests known to GOD (Phil 4:6). The blind men also had to speak their requests while in a crowd. Sometimes to demonstrate faith my requests may need to be made in a crowd.This doesn't mean I am to be praying on the street corners to be seen (Matt 6:5) but rather am to be making a public confession of faith in prayer and in Jesus. Often times it's easy to make a request in private but to do it in public requires a lot more faith because now their are witnesses who will see if my request is answered or if it falls flat and I look "stupid" for having asked. I will need more faith and strength so that I not worry about looking "stupid."

LORD GOD of grace, mercy and understanding there is no Father so perfect as You. You are glorious beyond comprehension. I praise You. Please forgive me when I don't step out in faith to make my requests known to You. Please strengthen my faith and my boldness in prayer. May I not be concerned about what others think but rather what You alone think. I cannot learn this without You. I beg You to be my Guide and my Master. I freely submit to You. Have Your way with me - in the name of Jesus' amen.
