Appearances

Oh how this reminds me of the first time my beautiful wife ,of 28 years, spoke to me.
I guess, though I don't know why, I was very popular with the single ladies at the church we once attended. As I became an usher, as she was, she approached me and started taking to me for the first time. As her conversation went on and I listen carefully to what she was saying, I finally crossed my arms took one look at her and said; " So why don't you just come out and say it! You think I am stuck up!" which she replied, well yeah and went back to her spot.
When I first saw her, I think she was around 17 or 18 years old. Being at that age I really didn't pay much attention to her, though she was nice looking, because I am 12 years older then her. But she was good looking.
The one thing I did not pick up from in that conversation was her heart. Yes she was good looking, not a super model, just a simple young lady and being a man, yes I noticed her and said to myself, "what would look like in a min skirt, "
Yep, you got it, I was looking and thinking of her and the others appearances instead of the person she really was.
Is that not like all of though? If you are human, the answer is yes.
We all look at the figure of a women or women may look at the figure of a man along with if they can actually give them the security they want as in wealth (Don't take offense young ladies, some it is guessing) but none really looks at the heart.
In the case of my wife, I really didn't know her heart until we both went to a child birthday party, talk for a little while then left and talk some more.
It was her heart, not her appearance that attracted form that point on and God open the door for both of us and in 1986 married.
So as you see, as humans we don't look at the heart of a person, but the appearance.
Appearances can fool you, as we see in the case. Samuel looked at the outside of Jesse's sons, but God was looking at their hearts and rejected all them except David.
David, was a young man who had a heart for God. Though scripture said he was handsome young man, that really didn't matter to God, it was his heart.
So the lesson here is very simple, to men and women after God's own heart. It really doesn't matter what on the outside of a person or what they show, because most people are just actors portraying something they are not and eventually you will learn this as life goes on.
If God didn't open my eyes to my wife's heart, I would have stayed the path of the age differences and missed out on His chosen mate for life for me.
One of the things I noticed about proclaiming Christians, they are proclaiming because they go to church, is that we look at the outside of the person instead seeking God for the inside of the person.
If the person is true to God, then they will want what God wants. God has someone special for all of us.
I learned that lesson, because my wife, is very good looking, but if you ever saw some of the ladies I once dated, very beautiful, she would be considered an plain simple person, even some would say not good looking at all. Yes I looked at the outside, though during that stage of my life I did not follow Christ, I would have never even asked her out, even after I accepted Christ, I still looked at the outward appearances instead of the heart and if the Lord tried to open my eyes I would block and still look only at the outward side of the person
On Veronica, I didn't, I felt move to know her and it was her heart the held me captive. God opened my eyes and stubborn heart and let me know she was the one He had chosen for.
So if you are single and looking for a mate, let God guide you as He did Samuel in picking out a King.
Stop looking at the outside, and allow God to show the inside, then you will have God match for you, a match made in heaven, because God brought you together.
Is this a happily ever after story? No! Anytime God brings two together, especially in marriage, be prepared for WWIII, because the enemy will be there to do all he can to separate you, that even goes for for the dating stage.
Just remember, when these attacks come, turn to God in all things, because what He brings together, is forever, only if we are unprepared and not following His instruction within His word will it fall apart.
That is the reason why Saul failed as king. He did not follow god plans.
Don't be a Saul, but be a David, a man or a woman after Gods own heart and you will not regret it!
Amen
