Made in Gods image

We are made in the image of God! I always thought this meant that we humans look like God physically (picturing God with a human body). However this verse States that both man and woman are made in Gods image. Could this mean spiritually?

I am also reminded of John 3:2- We are Gods Children now, and what we WILL be has NOT YET been revealed. We know that WHEN HE APPEARS, we will be like Him, because we WILL SEE HIM AS HE IS. (emphasis mine) HCSB version

I think that is an exciting verse because we know Christ has already came to earth to walk as flesh among us. So perhaps when He returns.....who knows? If God created time and matter then He himself must be outside of both time and matter. So undeserving we are to be made In His image
