Our Savior was revealed to the lowliest of the people of the time that He chose to appear. The angels who brought this most important message told those who heard it not to be fearful. He also did not to choose to appear as we would expect, as a powerful military leader. He appeared as an infant born in the most humble circumstances imaginable. To quote Phillip Yancey from the book 'The Jesus I Never Knew'. "A teenage girl, living in a province of a war torn country under the rule of a ruthless government traveled with her boyfriend to a distant city to pay taxes. While there, she gave birth to a Son as an unwed Mother without the support of her family. Since they were poor and late in arriving that night she had a barn for livestock as a delivery room with Joseph as her only help." (Paraphrased but by all means read the book)
This is what the angels proclaimed that night. An unbelievable story, that unless told by angels, no one would believe. The shepherds spread this news, the most exciting news in all history, to everyone.
