Mark 4:9,23

If anyone has ears to hear, he should listen! ”

Jesus openly speaks all the secrets of the kingdom of GOD. However, He encodes them into parables. He does this so that only those who have surrendered human wisdom for godly wisdom will be able to understand. Only those led by the Holy Spirit will truly understand the meaning. The Pharisees never understood because they only had book knowledge of GOD but no intimate knowledge of GOD through the Spirit.

In my life if I have book knowledge of GOD it's not bad unless I have no intimate knowledge of Him to accompany it. I must be willing to give up command of my own life and surrender it to the Holy Spirit. He alone can guide me and give me understanding. Should I try on my own without His help to understand the Word I will undoubtedly come to the wrong conclusion just as the Pharisees did.

LORD GOD of grace and power there is none like You. You are far greater than I could ever hope to understand. Please forgive me when I try to figure everything out on my own without relying on Your Holy Spirit for guidance. Please change my ears so that they can hear what You are saying in Your Word. No matter how many degrees I might have in Bible I could never truly understand Your Word without Your help so I ask that You take over and teach me Your Word that I may know You better. Please have Your way with me. All glory and honor be Yours forever - in the name of Jesus amen.
