Wise decision

Here is a great lesson for all to learn. As the King of Israel and the King of Judah was discussing if they should go to against the Philistines, King Jehoshaphat of Judah agreed with one request:

"But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, 'First seek the counsel of the Lord."

Though the chapter is telling about war, it still tells us in any decision, we really need to seek God first before making a move.

This goes into all thing pertaining to our lives, especially major events, such as buying a home, seeking a new job, going into business for yourself and MARRIAGE!

Yeah I know, I capitalize marriage, but it is for good reason.

You see to many move without praying or seeking God advice as we see here where King Ahab was ready just to move, because his friend King Jehoshaphat had already agreed agree to go with him.

So what does Ahab do? Yep you got it, he went to false prophets. That was a mistake as you read the chapter, he heard the good, but none of them told him that he would loose his life.

In today's society you have to agree that many just jump without thinking or they will go to spiritualist before going to God. I am not talking about brothers and sisters, they may jump first though.

So why should we seek God first? Because most of the time, when we move without His approval problems develop and what we may think was God will for us, really was not.

This is especially true in relationships. Being young and wanting to get married, I pushed the hand of God, thinking that His hand was in on it. It wound up in a divorce. Both of us were young and naive to say the less, but it failed because we listen more to what family members were saying instead of seeking God first.

Could it of worked? Hard to say, because even when went to counseling, it was not from the church or Pastors, but an outside counselor, you know what I mean.

It was not until after wards, that I learned to seek God first before making any major moves in my life.

Though i knew my ex wife was doing things that justified divorce, I still believed that there was a chance of us getting back together as I prayed to the Lord if she was the one, then it would work out and if not set me free.

Well God set me free and brought His choice and daughter to me as a wife.

The difference is that I sought God first and He moved. Has it been a perfect marriage? No, to this day we still there have been problems and situations and circumstances within our lives that have disrupted it very being, but yet God is in the handling the issues as we learned from Him and His guidance.

28 years now and counting. It was a major decision and this time God was involved not as the first time.

So the bottom line is seeking God, even in buying a car, because if it is right, then He'll let you know, or He will say wait or maybe He will say no.

No matter what, the we need to inquire of the Lord first. Because He knows what He has in-store for you and me.

Amen
