Jesus heals and strengthens

Mark 5:25-34

A woman suffering from bleeding for 12 years had endured much under many doctors. She had spent everything she had and was not helped at all. On the contrary, she became worse. Having heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His robe. For she said, “If I can just touch His robes, I’ll be made well! ” Instantly her flow of blood ceased, and she sensed in her body that she was cured of her affliction.
At once Jesus realized in Himself that power had gone out from Him. He turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My robes? ”
His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing against You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me? ’ ”
So He was looking around to see who had done this. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came with fear and trembling, fell down before Him, and told Him the whole truth. “Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be free from your affliction.”

This woman has no doubt that she will be healed if she can just touch His robes. Her conviction of His ability to heal is so strong that she is willing as an unclean woman to touch Jesus thus making Him unclean (Lev 15:19-27). Her faith therefore is shown to be quite strong. So why does Jesus ask "who touched my robes?" He did this to increase her faith and conviction even more. The woman comes before Him with fear and trembling because she is being called out in front of everyone. She is also going to be found out for her uncleanness and her causing the Rabbi to become unclean. Jesus immediately restores her peace and her faith is deepened far more for having had to speak out and give testimony about what GOD had done for her.

Sometimes I wonder why powerful spiritual/physical changes in my life have to happen where everyone can see. It can be embarrassing. It means I have to admit that I had a problem on the outset. The reason can certainly have many layers. GOD gets greater glory and my faith becomes deeper through speaking publicly about it, giving my testimony, especially from a low position.

GOD of healing and glory I praise You. You alone are to be praised. Please forgive me when I try to hide what You have done in my life. Please rescue me from this prideful way of acting. May I learn to humble myself so that I care nothing for how I might look or be made fun of for the embarrassing ares of my life. Please show me how to expose them to Your light that You may be glorified and I may be healed. I glorify You above all - in the name of Jesus amen.
